Mamiya RB-67 Professional S | Light Leaks

The haze, and an unexpected light leak in the film backing makes for a bunch of unattractive pictures. Nevertheless, here are some – disappointing – samples from the beast. Enjoy!

  1. Did you find this to be an issue with the film back or the roll of film itself? Have you been able to fix the issue? I have the exact issue with my rb67 I just picked up and am looking for the solution. Thanks.

    1. I recently just fixed all the seals for the camera and the guys said it should fix the issue

I’m still yet to take it out for a spin, but perhaps you could try to replace the seals first.

And no, I don’t really think it’s the film, as I’ve tested it twice with different films and the problem persisted

  2. I just had the exact same leaks on the exact same spot in the RB67 I recently picked up when I developed some black and white film. Was it the light seals on the film back or the camera body itself? I just sent away a bunch of color film shot with different backs, so I hope it doesn’t all come back like that. :/

    1. I replaced the light seals on the film back, as well as patched a tiny tear in the lens bellow. Both of which could cause this issue. Another thing to look out for is the isolating plate on the film back, light could leak in from there too. All the best!

      1. I think it’s definitely the new back I got for it, now that I look at it. But I should probably check them all out anyway. Thanks!
